The sun starts on the chest and the rays run off the edges of the shirt.

Placed prints are usually where a larger size gets short-changed. The artwork is set on the front panel and nowhere else, so the design stops dead at the side seam, the sleeves are left plain, and the bigger the garment gets the more obvious it is that the picture was drawn for a smaller one. On top of that sits the popover problem: one opening, stopping halfway down the chest, on a body that has to clear your bust with the buttons fastened. And a tight armhole means the first time you reach up, the whole shirt lifts off your waistband and stays there.

Nirvelle is printed and cut the other way. The painted sun sits on the chest and its rays carry straight across the seams and down both sleeves, so the artwork stays whole however wide the panel is — nothing about it stops at the side seam. The body is genuinely oversized with the armhole dropped deep towards the waist, so it goes over your head without a struggle and reaching raises the sleeve rather than the hem. The placket runs down past the fullest part of the chest before it ends.

Why it works

• The print runs off the body and onto the sleeves: the rays carry across the seams instead of stopping at the side, so the artwork stays whole at every size.
• Wide body with a deep dropped armhole: it pulls on over your head without a struggle.
• Batwing sleeve: you reach and the sleeve moves, not the hem.
• Half placket that runs past the chest before it ends: the opening isn't a single fastening sitting on the fullest part.
• Curved high-low hem: longer at the centre front and back, shorter at the sides.
• Roomy sleeves that roll back and stay: enough width at the upper arm to turn them up and leave them.

Fit note

Oversized by design — take your usual size. The weave is thin and lets light through at the hem, so a cami underneath if you'd rather it weren't see-through. The sleeves are made to be worn turned back. One colourway. Sizes M to 4XL.
